president's message t is human nature to make natural and I inevitable events momentous. The turn of the century is just such an event. The hope, and indeed need, for a future is powerful. But on what can such hope be realistically based if not on who we are and who we have been? Lebanon Valley College has reason to celebrate the future and the accomplishments of the 1998-1999 academic year. It has been a great pleasure and source of satisfaction for Janice and I to have witnessed the efforts of the LV C family over the recent years. And truly, patterns are much more impressive than the accomplishments of a single year. But patterns are established a year at a time-and last year certainly made its contribution to the continuum. In the pages ahead, several members of our community are highlighted. They excellently represent the widespread work of a dedicated community. During the long and storied history of the Valley we see a community powerfully committed to learning. And today, as always, we remain a community dedicated to the greater good of a civilized nation. We are family and friends donating time and energy to help ensure a student's individual success. We are alumni, staff and faculty providing advice, producing scholarship and creating opportunity.
