Always love the articles on the artists and it was great to see the article on Dan LoRusso. Really looking towards the re- release of the older Battats. Sad to hear about Mr. Richard Attenborough. It would be totally cool if they could get his brother David to narrate a segment in the new JP movie. T'was great to see the " A Little Golden Book of Dinosaurs." Lot of nice little memories there. I got one off of Ebay a while back and it sits, in plastic, where I can see it from the treadmill in the basement... huff puff... gotta... stay.... healthy... A book about MARX and MPC playsets??? WOW! My prayers have been answered; not kiddin'! Can't wait for that one to hit the shelves. I keep telling myself to pull in the reins on spending but seeing all that dinosaur goodness is tempting me beyond what a mortal man can endure! Must... resist.... Oh, crum... going to Target today to check out the Battats... Though not a big fan of feathered dinos, love the painting by Julius Csotonyi on page 11, so creepy the T-rex coming out of the shadows like that.. an "oh crap" moment if ever I saw one. Well done! Apatosaurus by Jacob Micallef Age 13 COOL Collector’s Corner! The King Kong playset... had one as a kid (You know... they should've added dinosaurs to that.) The only thing I have left of it is one green tree. And there is the ultra cool Sears battery controlled Tyrannosaurus. I have a home movie of me playing with it and the Triceratops. As usual, I am once again inspired by all the art work and sculpts in this jam packed issue (How does he do it folks?) Ok, enough rambling, have yourself a good one, Mike! Liam O'Toole - Mark Kreiss, Warren, NJ future paleontologist? Hi Mike, Meet my grandson Liam (see photo this page). I saw to it that his first gift following his birth was a Stegosaurus. Still a bit shy of five years old he has become quite the expert on dinosaurs. I have helped him acquire a considerable collec- tion of dinosaur models. Soon I will introduce him to Prehistoric Times magazine. Very best wishes, John Kricher, Pocasset, MA Hello Mike, In your last issue you had an excellent article by John Lavas Liopleurodon by Javier A. R. on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World" and the centennial edition that I was privileged enough to participate in. John mentioned the website I've been running on the novel and 1925 silent film adaptation, and I thought Prehistoric Times readers might be interested to know that I've been moving that website to a new location and format. To keep things fresh (and reduce all those pop-ups), I'm restarting it as a blog dedicated not only to "The Lost World" but all vintage dinosaur films and litera- ture. The new URL is http://sirarthurconandoyleslostworld.blogspot.com Thanks, Cory Gross Apatosaurus by Matthew Tomaini Greetings from Oz, Mike. I have been enjoying Issue #111, particularly John Lavas' article on his centenary presentation of Conan Doyle's "The Lost World". This is my second favourite novel (yes, second favourite!), which I have read many times over the years; about once a year on average. When I was teaching school years and years ago, I read it Liopleurodon aloud to a Fifth Grade class who loved it; I sometimes wonder by Perfecto K. if any of those kids gained a love of classic literature from that. My daughters, when they were in school, came across a hard- cover copy in a used-book sale and bought it for me for a few cents; it remains one of my most Fred Snyder wrote an article previously in PT about creating treasured books in a fairly large personal library. I was interested in John Lavas' discussion on prehistoric dioramas. He has been busy creating more and this movie and video versions of the story. I don't think it has ever been done right, but the 1925 is a teaser for a soon-to-come 2nd article. silent version probably remains the best (I love Miss Bessie Love). Anyway, I want to purchase John Lavas' centenary edition, but can find no details. I seem to recall seeing an advertisement in PT but cannot find it in my copies. Where can I go to buy the book? Please advise. Regards, Rowan Partridge, Tolga, Queensland, Australia Thanks so much for the nice e-mail Rowan. I am not surprised you enjoyed John’s arti- cle. To buy a copy of his book, I can’t think of a better way to get info than e-mailing him personally, eh? Here is his e-mail.
