the consolidation of the old regional electricity companies, the
emergence of independent network operator licenses and the
proliferation of renewable energy projects as the country drives to
create more green power.
The power cable accessories product portfolio has also changed with

separable connectors which enable the easy connection and disconnection
of cables from switchgear and more universally sized components that
cover a wider range of cables.

CASE STUDIES
Greater Gabbard Wind Farm
Greater Gabbard is one of the world’s largest offshore
wind farm with a 500MW capacity consisting of an
onshore facility linked by three 45km cables to an
offshore substation. This is supplied by 140 turbines
located 23km off the Suffolk coast and the facility is
expected to provide power to around 530,000 homes.
SSE & RWE NPower Renewables are developing this project with
Balfour Beatty who have been commissioned to undertake all the
electrical installation work for the project covering voltages up to
132kV.
Jointing Technologies have worked with Balfour Beatty design and
installation teams to ensure that the right power cable accessories
products were specified and supplied for the application in
addition to providing on site training where necessary on the
installation of these materials. Jointing Technologies scope of
supply included Pfisterer Connex terminations, a comprehensive
range of MV joints and terminations from Tyco Electronics and
single and trefoil cleats from Prysmian.
Jointing Technologies at the time of print have supplied over £1M
of materials into Greater Gabbard project and have demonstrated
our ability to work on one of the largest and most prestigious
projects in the world.
The Shard
Shard London Bridge is a skyscraper constructed
in south London which is the tallest building in
the European Union. The tower will stand 1,017ft
(310m) tall with 72 floors, plus 15 further
radiator floors in the roof. The building has been
designed with an irregular triangular shape from
the base to the top. It will be clad entirely in
glass and have an open-air observation deck on
the top floor. The building will consist of Office
space, a Spa, Residential Apartments and a
Shangri-La Hotel.
Jointing Technologies worked in conjunction with the main
contractor to ensure the right products were selected for
the application and supplied many products on this project
including MV terminations from Tyco Electronics, Separable
Connectors for 22kV cables from ABB in addition to a range
of cast iron cleats for FP cables from Prysmian and cable
support systems from Band-IT.
This is one of the many prestigious projects in the U.K
currently supplied by Jointing Technologies.
