A smile awaits us. We are home. Unpack; relish the little niceties of life such as freshly cut flowers all
over the house, chairs on the terrace, and the water of the swimming pool heated to perfection. A dip
in that pool, a game of tennis, a round of golf, whatever takes our fancy, but always surrounded by
nature at its most magnificent. Now for a well deserved Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, or Sauna perfectly
complementing a vigorous session in the gym.

flowers. But it does not end here.... The
warmth and welcoming atmosphere of
the house beckons, anxious to cater to
our every whim.

First read the chef's suggestions. Couldn't be simpler! Before long, the exotic and sophisticated dishes start to appear.
Time is of no consequence when it comes to the finer things in life. Caviar, truffles, wild mushrooms, prawns.
Perfection. Outside, tones of saffron, avocado and passion fruit in the form of flowers beckon. Go for a wander. The
air suggests turning back. Possibly for a cup of tea accompanied by a slice of homemade cake, a pastry that melts
in the mouth or a hot scone oozing with butter. Tea is not just served at 5, but at any hour where there is a demand
for a moment to be savoured.

Casa Velha do Palheiro
Casa Velha do Palheiro started off both as a hunting pavilion and summer
residence in 1804, its first owner being João Esmeraldo, the first Earl of
Carvalhal. Originally, the Earl imported a wide variety of trees from all
over the world and it's taken for true that many species of rare trees
were given to him as gifts from ships' captains and from King D. João the
6th himself. At a later period, in 1885, the estate was bought by John
Burden Blandy and it has since remained in the family. Restoration
works in Casa Velha began in 1995 and it was established as a Manor-
House in 1997. Hospitality and personalized service to the need of each
guest define the heart of Casa Velha do Palheiro. Part from the Tea
Room, beautifully located between the famous Palheiro Gardens and
the renowned Madeira's greens of Palheiro Golf, arrangements can be
made for boating or fishing trips on Casa Velha's motor-boat "Balancal".
