Y ou enter the doors of Northern thinking that you have it all figured out, you have to have your picture taken at 7 :45 at Heritage Park which you didn't know existed, you have to attend the Mardi Gras assembly after sixth hour, you can't wait for school to end at 2:20 or Portfolio day to end on the sixteenth, you know the yearbook is in color, to be at Kudzia's from three to eight for wall building and to attend the 7:00 homecoming game at Memorial Stadium, but what about the unexpected? What about "acing" your POD test, getting accepted to your number one college, the yearbook divided into seasons or receiving the Video iPod for Christmas, that girl to say yes to prom or that guy who you've been dying to go out with finally asks you out, the entire class silent or turned around during the pep bone or maybe Ulmer doing the grape toss dressed as Superman? This phenomenon of unpredictabil ity is what is so memorable about high school, the ability for things to happen without warning. The only thing you can count on for the time being is Northern's title; you revolve your life around this place. You may fall in the spotlight or stay in the shadows while you're here, but your day here at Northern is unmatched to any predictions. Like the weather, especially in Port Huron as you know, it cannot be tamed, but also if things turned out differently than the way you had planned, it is only four years of your life. On the other hand, it is your chance to shine and show what you're made of. Battle of the Bands :s a fund-raising event for the basebal team, but it a so 1s becom ng an annual event for people to display their talent Mr Dwyer who .s in charge of the fund-ra1ser sa1d, "All :he performer's have been cooperative, fun ~o work w th and they all have great talent" "I enjoy being center of attention very much. It makes me tingle when people see me play music," Dennis Cornwel ('07) said Dan Murphy ('07) who has played for the ast 2 years said him and his band had been playing for a while, so instead of being nervous they were stuffing their faces w1th McDonalds. Dan loves playing his instrument so he said, "Playing was a plus." Now, how could we forget the energetic Jeremy David'3on ('08) and his fellow emcee Tamara Lavati ('OS). Both were emcees for the night and kept the audiences attention and 1nterest wh le they waited for the next band to set-up.
