Swept up in the midst of the crowded halls, students searched within themselves to find their own identities and places in the social chain. Different in a variety of ways, yet tied together by one common bond, students played the same role ... Huskies. The 1999-2000 school year began with many changes. The biggest change was the replacing of "Mr. G." After serving 14 years as Principal of Port Huron South, Mrs. JoAnn Monaghan took over the reigns. Other mod1ficat1ons to the building included new security OPENING 3 • • • measures and guest passes for all visitors. While most students adjusted to the changes, a common complaint of the student body was centered around lunch hours. One of the new rules enforced this year was one that restricted students from entering certain areas of the school during lunch time. Hall monitors and stanchions were set up to enforce the boundaries. Despite their displeasure, students learned to overcome the new changes and moved on. Friendships and relationships disbanded as fast as they were made, but the purpose never ceased. Students learned that what hurts them at one time only makes them stronger, and in the end they are ready to take on the world! 4 OPENING F r On the first day back, students unload from the buses with hopes and fears for the upcommg year T Smiling and laughing, Julia Carolan ('01 ), Sarah Partipilo ('01 ). and Courtney Fullgrapp ('01) enJOY the pep assembly. 0 H With his face painted blue and gold for the big game, Damel Ward ('02). along with Daniel Gilbert ('02), show off the1r school sp1rit. As students entered the building on August 25th their minds focused on anything but schoolwork. Many anticipated the upcoming activities, both school and extra curricular, that they would be taking part in during the approaching months. Mardi Gras, Snow. football games, assemblies and dances were some of the events in which the students participated. These fun-filled events added some extra laughs § into students' lives. 6 STUDENT LIFE DIVISION
