Kindle Help 1.1 Searching On a Kindle Voyage, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle (5th generation), Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire, or Kindle app, tap on the magnifying glass icon, then type in a word to find it in the dictionary. On a Kindle (4th generation), Kindle Keyboard, or Kindle DX, a search dictionary box appears when you open the dictionary. Simply type in a word to find it in the dictionary. If your app's search feature is too slow or finds too many words, we recommend browsing the dictionary instead. To do this, go to the Table of Contents and select A - Z. Select a letter, then select the link to the appropriate range of words. Scroll until you find the desired word. 1.2 Default dictionary setting To set this as your default dictionary for looking up words while reading eBooks in German: Press Home. Press Menu. Select "Settings" from the menu. Check to see if there is a "Dictionaries" setting. If you see a "Dictionaries" setting, select it. Look under "German" in the list of languages: if you already see this dictionary listed, then it is already set correctly as default. If it is not shown, select "German", then choose this dictionary from the list that appears. If you do not see this setting, press Menu, then choose "Change Primary Dictionary" from the menu. You will see a list of all available dictionaries on your Kindle; choose this dictionary from the list. 1.3 Additional help The availability of dictionary features on Kindles and Kindle apps changes frequently.
