oxford world’s classics PHINEAS REDUX Phineas Redux is the fourth in Trollope’s six-volume sequence of novels known as the Palliser series. They chart the career of P lantagenet Palliser, and his troubled marriage to Lady Glencora. The novels depict the social milieu of the aristocracy and upper m iddle-class of mid-Victorian England, with occasional forays into low life and the criminal underworld. They combine the machin- ations of politics with an intimate exploration of personal relation- ships to paint an unparalleled portrait of an age.
