INTRODUCTION Classification of Pesticides Ontario's Pesticides Act and Regulation 914, administered by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, requires that pesticide products be registered under the federal Pest Control Products Act, and classified into one of the schedules of the Ontario Regulation before they may be sold and used in Ontario. This document lists all pesticide products which are currently classified in Ontario, including fertilizers containing pesticides Definitions "Reg'n No." is the unique identifying number assigned to each pesticide product under the Pest Control Products Act (Canada) It is always found on the label of a pesticide product, and may often be referred to as the PC? Number. In the case of the fertilizer-pesticide combinations, the registration number is the number assigned under the Fertilizers Act (Canada) "Sch No." refers to the schedule numbers, 1 through 6, into which pesticide products are classified (under Ontario Regulation 914) according to their persistence, toxicity, method of handling or ways in which they can be sold. An "I" after the schedule number indicates "interim status" classification. Products are placed in interim status for up to 18 months. Each year, the schedule listings are updated by a regulation amendment, to transfer interim status products to the permanent schedules. Refer to the following table for details on the schedules "Regt Code" refers to the code assigned to a company which registers a pesticide in Canada. The company names and addresses for each code are listed in detail in Section 1 of this publication "Agnt Code" refers to the company acting as the Canadian agent for the distribution of a particular pesticide. The company names and addresses for each code are listed in detail in Section 2 of this publication. "Product Name" refers to the brand name or trade name which is registered with the federal government. Many of these are registered trade marks. Remember: Read the pesticide label thoroughly before purchasing and/or using a pesticide. Pesticides must only be used in accordance with label directions. It is against the law to use a pesticide in any way contrary to the label. Standards Development Branch March 1, 1996
