PERSUASIVE,theInternationalConferenceonPersuasiveTechnology,istheleading venue to meet and discuss the latest theories and applications of persuasive technol- ogy in a growingnumberof domains,includingpersonalhealthcare,environmentally sustainable behaviors, and public and industrial safety. Previous PERSUASIVE con- ferenceswereheldinPadua,Sydney,Linköping,Columbus,Copenhagen,Claremont, Oulu,PaloAlto,andEindhoven. Thisvolumecollectsthepaperspresentedatthe10theditionoftheconferencethat tookplaceinChicago,USA,duringJune2015.OnJune2,adoctoralconsortiumandco- designworkshopwasheld.OnJune3,tutorialsandworkshopswereheldandduringJune 4-5theformalsingle-trackconferenceproceedingswereheld.Thegeneralchairsforthe conferencewerePatrickWhitneyandTomMacTavish.TheorganizingchairswereTom MacTavishandSantoshBasapur.Theconferencebenefitedfromthecollaborationof50 scholarswhoweremembersoftheScientificCommittee.Inadditiontothethemesof persuasivetechnologyaddressedinpreviouseditionsoftheconference,thiseventhigh- lightedthespecialthemeof“PersonalEmpowermentThroughPersuasiveDesign”toac- knowledgetherisingtrendofconsumerswithintelligentdevices(e.g.,smartphonesand wearables)andpersonaldataubiquitouslyavailableinlargedatasets(currentlyreferred toas“thecloud”)andtheempowermentthatwilloccuraswell-designedapplications providepersonallyimpactful,data-drivensupporttopeopleatopportunemoments. The papers in this volume were selected after a thorough selection process. The paperssubmittedtotheconferencefororalpresentationwereexaminedbyatleasttwo experts on the topics of the paper in a double-blind review process. Based on these evaluations, 46% of the 41 of the submitted papers were accepted as full (12 page) papersand9%wereacceptedasshort(6pages)papers.Allacceptedpapersunderwent a second round of revisions before being included in this volume. We would like to thankallthe expertswhocarefullyreadthe submissionsandgenerouslygaveoftheir timetoprovideadvicetotheauthors.Also,wewouldliketothanktheauthorsforthe effortthattheymadeinthisiterativerevisionprocesstoachievehigh-qualityresults. In addition to the papers included in this volume, the conference also featured a postersession,adoctoralconsortium,workshops,andtutorials.Thisresultedincontri- butionsthatareavailableinseparatelypublishedproceedings.Persuasive2015offered twointernationalworkshops:(1)theThirdInternationalWorkshoponBehaviorChange and (2) Mobile Urban Persuasion. In addition, the conference offered two tutorials: (1)ServiceDesignforHealthBehaviorsand(2)MobilePersuasionDesign. The conference received papers from contributors in 20 countries from the continentsofAsia,Australia,Europe,NorthAmerica,andSouthAmerica.
