Words to know: Hygiene – the practice of staying healthy and preventing disease by keeping yourself clean Deodorant – a substance that is put on the skin under the arms which covers up body odor Employer – someone who hires people to do work for money Employee – a person who works for someone else and gets paid money to do it Personal hygiene is all the things we do to keep our bodies clean and healthy. Keeping your body clean includes not only bathing and washing your hands, but also taking care of your hair and your teeth, keeping your fingernails clean and trimmed, and making sure to put on deodorant and wear clean clothes. It’s a lot to remember, but it makes a huge difference to what other people think about you. When someone has good personal hygiene, they look good, they smell good, and they feel good. Other people like to be around them. 7 PersonalHygiene?What’sthatGottoDowithMe? When someone does not have good hygiene, they look dirty and they smell bad. Other kids at school won’t want to hang out with someone who is dirty or smells bad. On the job, an employer won’t want to hire someone who has poor hygiene. Other workers won’t want to work with someone who isn’t clean. Another important reason to have good personal hygiene is so that you will stay healthy.
