FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Rob Bruder (216) 707-2265 [email protected] Grammy Nominated Baritone to Perform at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Feb. 2 “Christòpheren Nomura is definitely a face to watch, and a voice to hear.” – The Boston Globe CLEVELAND (Jan. 12, 2005) — Acclaimed baritone Christòpheren Nomura will captivate audiences with a recital on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at 7:30 p.m. in The Cleveland Museum of Art’s (CMA) Gartner Auditorium. Nomura will present three “sonic” contexts, including performances with special guests The Cavani String Quartet, Ensemble Modus and pianist David Alpher. This recital is part of the Museum’s popular Gala Music Series. Admission to the recital is $20 and $18; $16 and $14 for CMA members, Musart Society members and seniors (65 and over). There will be a special student rate of $5 at the door. Nomura began his professional career at the young age of six, when he landed his first operatic role in the boys’ choir of the San Francisco Opera. He performed his first solo at age eleven, and continues to perform in traditional and contemporary operatic roles. Nomura has given over 250 performances in North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. Nomura is the recipient of numerous awards, and was the winner of a four-year J. William Fulbright Grant, the Marilyn Horne Foundation Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He represented the Information Agency of the United States as a music ambassador, and was Grammy-nominated for his recording of Monteverdi’s “Vespers of 1610.” His newest recording, “Never Broken,” was released in early 2004 on Center Stage Records. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, Nomura holds an Artists Diploma and a Masters Degree. He enjoys Artist-In-Residence status with the San Francisco Performances, and is a noted Bach specialist. The next performance in the Gala Music Series will be Concertante on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 in a program titled “Transfigured Night”. The ensemble is praised for their technical virtuosity and youthful energy, and represents a fresh voice in chamber music.
