PeopleandSpacesinRomanMilitaryBases Thisstudyusesartefactdistributionanalysestoinvestigatetheactivi- tiesthattookplaceinsideearlyRomanimperialmilitarybases.Focus- ingespeciallyonnon-combatactivities,itexploresthelivesoffamilies andothersupportpersonnelwhoarewidelyassumedtohaveinhab- itedciviliansettlementsoutsidethefortificationwalls.Spatialanalyses, inGIS-typeenvironments,areusedtodevelopfreshperspectiveson therangeofpeoplewholivedwithinthewallsofthesemilitaryestab- lishments, the various industrial, commercial, domestic and leisure activitiesinwhichtheyandcombatpersonnelwereinvolved,andthe socio-spatialorganisationoftheseactivitiesandtheseestablishments.
