Students bring the campus to life by committing themselves to the campus community, continuing traditions and creating new experiences. In recognition of the recent interest to ensure the perseverance of the yearbook, this special edition ofthe Pegasushonors its longevity by reconnecting with the heritage of its earliest predecessor, the Alpha. As part of that heritage, the liberal arts education that we as students have received has taught us to cherish and preserve the arts, the environment and campus history. It has also taught us to keep an open mind, to think critically and to raise challenging questions. For 225 years, students have driven the evolution and the revolution of Washington College, atradition we hope will continue forthe next225 years. 003 our REvolution here starts inspired by our heritage, we used our school's 225th year to reflect upon our past and evolve toward an eminent future When Washington College was founded in 1782, George Washington probably did not envision the school as it is today: construction encompassing a large part of the campus, buildings constantly sprouting up and coming down, the 18th century horror of co-ed dorms. To celebrate the 225th anniversaryduringthe2007-2008 schoolyear, itis important to examinewherewecamefrom, wherewe areandwherewearegoing. Whileathletics, organizations andacademicoptions have changed numerous times over the years, Washington College still maintains three important, fundamental ideals: to make history, explore the environment andcreateahaven forthe arts. These ideas come to life naturallyin the collegeas theyareconstantlyrenewedand renovated. It is fitting as Washington College undergoes a new movement with many changes that the yearbook should be part ofour school's new revolution. As times evolve toward greater standards, looking to our college's rich history and present changes makes our evolution possible. Because this is an anniversary year for our college, it is fitting that the yearbook should be a special edition ofthe Pegasusto mark this occasion. With the previous year's absence ofan official yearbook, the revamping ofthe book and the reemergence of the original title The Alpha, the original name for Washington College's yearbook, retraces our footsteps, allowing us to revolutionize our past in order for it to evolve into something we canenjoynowandin thefuture. it^S^^^S^^m^i^ 004 This revolution is ourrevolution. It is atimeto examinewherewe come from and a time to prove that we as a generation embody those virtues that made WashingtonCollegewhatitwasin 1782andwhatitisin2008. 005 Opening REvive working to restore the community, Washington College students realized our voices and influenced growth to build tradition Forits anniversaryyear, thecampushas been revolutionized, startingbrand newtraditionssuchas the Senatorial Colloquy and revitalizing the spirit that George Washington bestowed on this college throughourenvironmental andhistorical endeavors.
