PASSOVER - Deliverance Freed To Worship Their God Prepared by Ordained Minister, Larry Johnson Passover - Deliverance (cid:1) God’s Prize Creation (cid:1) God’s Authority Declared (cid:1) Denial and Exposure (cid:1) God’s Order of Freedom (cid:1) God’s Command Performance (cid:1) The Command to Remember (cid:1) Why we celebrate The various components of this lesson are: see list above God’s Prize Creation Genesis chapter 1, verse 26 (KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 139 Division of Psalms, verse 14 (KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Each one of us should remember that man was the prize Creation of God. Satan introduced him to evil… and as the result man had the ability choose good or evil. Depending on which he chose… He would effectively have made a decision to worship God or the Satan (devil). God’s Authority Declared Genesis chapter 15, verses 18 - 21 (KJV) In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites. Abram chose to worship the God of Creation, whose name was Yahweh, and entered into a covenant or contract agreement to serve Yahweh. Yahweh’s part in this covenant agreement declared His authority and ownership as the Creator of all the earth, and thus His superiority to anything that was called god…….. Culture throughout what we call Palestine, whorsihpped various things that they declared gods. Many of these “gods” powers were limited to having influence on specific natural elements and spiritual entities. Interestingly, the declaration in Genesis 15: 18-21 was made to Abram, the son of Terah, an idol (graven image/god) maker. In doing so Yahweh eludes to the fact that: It doesn’t matter what God(s) your parent(s) worshipped. Yahweh is God, and besides Him there is not God. God’s Authority Declared Genesis chapter 18, verses 18 - 19 (KJV) Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. The covenant agreement with Abram included his children and his household. So though Abraham was long dead before he Passover event occurred, God had an contractual obligation to Abrahams descendents, and all that shall be connected to his family, and a obligation to fulfill and defend His own Word or promise. Denial and Exposure Exodus chapter 1, verse 8 - 10 (KJV) Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. The descendents of Abraham, who were the “Children of Promise”, were taken into captivity and made slaves in Egypt. Being slaves, they were denied worship of their God (Yahweh), and exposed to the worship of various things that were called and worshipped as God by people of the Middle East. Amongst the chief of their gods was the Pharoah himself. He was the designated / or physical representation of “Ra”/”Re”, the sun God…… God’s Order of Freedom Exodus chapter 5, verses 1 - 2 (KJV) And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. The Passover / deliverance story is of the prototypical event that addresses the authority and power of God to reclaim those that call on Him. It illustrates how God delivered Israel from under the hand of an oppressive Eygptain Pharoah. God’s Order of Freedom Exodus chapter 5, verses 3 - 4 (KJV) And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens. The not so hidden agenda of the opposer of Yahweh, is to keep his follower from worshipping their God. The spirit of the adversary does not respect Yahweh, His power over creation, nor His sovereign authority as the Creator. God’s Order of Freedom let’s read together Exodus chapter 6, verses 3 - 8 (KJV) And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers. God’s Order of Freedom And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant. Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
