PASIC is the largest percussion convention in the world with over 100 outstanding concerts, clinics, and masterclasses featuring the top drummers and percussion artists from all over the globe. Our hope is that you are inspired and discover a deeper passion for percussion and music. Although you can’t make it to everything, there is definitely something for everyone. But don’t forget one of the most important aspects about PASIC and PAS – the people! Plan time to meet new people and foster relationships within our percussion network. As you plan your daily schedule to attend a wide variety of sessions, you definitely want to grab a front row seat for the spectacular evening concerts. Wednesday: Focus Day Opening Concert featuring Steven Schick, She-e Wu with the Northwestern University Symphonic Band, and Sandbox Percussion with Elspeth Davis Thursday: Chad Wackerman Trio Friday: Sō Percussion Saturday: Steve Smith with the Airmen of Note For those of you returning to PASIC, there are several new and exciting aspects for 2017. First, the exhibit hall has been completely redesigned. There is a different traffic pattern with added walls for improved sound separation between the large instru- ment booths and the smaller booths with music, accessories and more. The companies are a vital part of the convention and we thank them for their continued support of PAS. The late-night hangs also have a different twist this year. Thursday is the “Open Mic—Marimba & Vibes Late-Night Hang” in the Westin Lobby sponsored by Yamaha. The evening will include a variety of artists performing solos and duos, as well as open times for anyone that wants to perform. The Friday late-night hang features the Airmen of Note performing with a selection of top-name drumset players in a relaxed atmo- sphere in downtown Indy at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Finally, the drumset events have been reimagined as “Drumfest!” with Drumeo as the lead sponsor, an exciting new partnership for PAS. When you find time between the exhibit hall and sessions, check out some of the events running throughout each day and evening. Thursday includes the Focus Day events during the day with the Marching Festival competitions drumming that evening. Friday kicks off with the Drumline Battle and Marching Festival groups, as well as the Small Chamber Ensemble Competition running throughout the entire day. Head out to these events to support the hundreds of student performers from across the country and then see the winners performing at the Competition Show- case Concert Friday afternoon. Since PAS is about the people, join us Thursday and Friday nights to celebrate the Hall of Fame inductees, the Lifetime Achievement in Educa- tion Award recipient, and other individual awards given to those who have contributed to PAS above and beyond. For all of you early risers, there are daily PASIC Fun-Runs at 6:30 am and Health and Wellness sessions at 7:30 am. As you can see, every day is jam-packed with endless activities to get your heart racing. If you want to see what happens “behind the scenes” of PAS, and find out how to get more involved in the organization, attend any of the 17 PAS committee meetings. These are open to the public and are a great way to meet part of the leadership teams working to move PAS forward. PASIC is the optimum time to meet and talk with PAS leaders; we have an incredible team of dedicated individuals who want to spread the story of what makes PAS amazing. Thank you to Joshua Simonds, the PAS Executive Director, and his entire staff for their tireless efforts over the past year. When you see the staff at registration, tell them thank you or give them a high-five for their work. This incredible team, as well as the PAS Executive Committee and Board of Directors, have organized a convention that will inspire you, bring passion to your craft, and encourage you to explore new paths for your future. We are excited to have you in Indy for PASIC 2017! Have a blast and make memories that will last a lifetime.
