Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Parishioners, I want to thank you for your strong support of our Catfish Festival! Friday night began with our Kitchen Crew serving up Catfish for the night. The drive-through was active and many people took advantage of the easy pickup. The fish, as usual, was incredible - with the line spanning the full length of the gym. Yeu Chin, Mike Cruppi and crew served up an amazing 1200 plates! Our teachers, staff, and parent volunteers did an incredible job of setting up booths and staffing those booths throughout Friday and Saturday. We had a rock wall, a hamster ball, numerous in- flatables, and games for the little ones. The Topcats played for us Friday night - and God blessed us with incredible weather. Next to the band - Drago's served chargrilled oysters and Bear's plated up po-boys, and our outside food tent, headed by Jodi Fedele, offered hot dogs and hamburgers. On Saturday, we continued with a wide menu in the gym, featuring a Catfish Couvillion that was out of this world! Our younger students performed - class by class -for their families and friends. Each class auctioned off a special handmade gift that featured each student. The auc- tion was a live auction - and I thank Jill Villarubia for being such a great auctioneer. The gym had a sweets table staffed by SALA members and a silent auction that got many people in- volved. Saturday also featured a dunking booth. Many were dunked - including your priests! Fr. Mar- lon told the 4pm Mass "Today was the first time that I have been in a dunking booth - and the last time that I will be in a dunking booth. Going down in the water was easy - getting up was the tough part!". Fr. Marlon was dunked numerous times at 11:30am - and I got dunked at 3pm. It's all for a great cause. Parish Office: 901 Beverly Garden Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70002 Parish Office: (504) 835-0324 ! School: (504) 835-8491 www.stangela.org ST. ANGELA MERICI Page 2 VOL. 51 , NO. 40 All week long, the weather threatened our festival, but God offered assistance! We prayed for good weather and at 4 pm Saturday the heaviest of the weather on live radar broke up and moved around us. I thank God for help that only He can control. We had a light drizzle that cooled the crowd down. This is the second time that I have walked through the process of preparation, setting up, working the festival and taking down. Great preparation and hard work make it look easy. I would like to thank our Principal, Paige Bennett. Any new principal experiences a lot of transition in their first year and Paige transitioned into the Festival like a champ. Stacy Rau and Renee Boudreaux have co-chaired the Festival for many years. Their natural leadership, incredible work ethic and con- tinued optimism kept everyone focused on the task. After many years of service, they are step- ping down from chairing the Festival. I want to thank them for their service to the Church and School. Tara Aguilar has shadowed Stacy and Renee and is prepared to take over as Festival chair for next year. Stephanie Gauthier has been a great coordinator of our games and is also stepping down this year and I thank her for her service. I thank our festival committee for all of the time that they sacrificed to make this happen I thank SAMA, SALA, the Knights of Colum- bus, our CO-OP, our Fry Crew, our parents and volunteers that made it happen. Thank you parishioners for coming out to support the parish through this incredible gathering. And thank God for His providential love and protection. Fr.
