In my first year back here as Head of School, I recognize that many changes have occurred since my departure in 1999. Put at its core, the school is very much the same. It maintains its core values, a strong sense of community, dedicated teachers, staff, parents, students and alumni, and an unwavering commitment to developing those attributes in our students that will enable them to live a life of purpose and to make a difference in the world. Indeed, many already have. This school year seemed to unfold at warp speed and very much enjoyed learning about I exciting new projects such as the service trip to the Dominican Republic and also observing long-standing traditions such as Speech Pay. Witnessing the enthusiasm with which our students embrace these and the other wonderful challenges and learning opportunities presented by their imaginative teachers has been truly inspiring. As you leaf through the pages of this issue of Paidia, you will be reminded of the relationships, activities, achievements and events that have shaped your personal development and created lasting memories of your time here together. You will be reminded of those special moments in the classroom, but also in athletics, outdoor education, service, fine arts, debating or some other special event or activity in which you participated. I hope that the words and the images on the following pages capture the spirit and the essence of your 2007-08 school year. I would like to thank the yearbook team for their efforts in producing this wonderful edition of the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir annual. Much of that work must be fitted in around other responsibilities and activities and this is a low-visibility job that runs throughout the school year.
