Dezember 2010 1:55 13 Safety instructions P40, W40 (cid:122) The cooling device is not suitable for transporting caustic mate- rials or materials containing solvents. e (cid:122) Only connect the device as follows: – With the DC cable (fig.12, page3) to a DC plug socket in the vehicle (e. g. cigarette lighter) – Or with the 230V connection cable (fig.13, page3) to the 230V AC mains supply (cid:122) Never pull the plug out of the socket by the cable. (cid:122) If the connection cable is damaged, it must be replaced with the cable of the same type and specifications. (cid:122) Disconnect the device from the mains. – Before cleaning and maintenance – After use (cid:122) If the cooler is connected to the DC socket: disconnect the cooler or switch it off when you turn off the engine. Otherwise you may discharge the battery. (cid:122) On boats: if the device is powered by the mains, ensure that the power supply has a ground fault interrupter circuit. Danger of fatal injuries! (cid:122) Disconnect the cooling device and other power consuming devices from the battery before connecting the quick charging device. (cid:122) Check that the voltage specification on the type plate corre- sponds to that of the energy supply. 1.2 Operating the device safely a (cid:122) Before starting the device, ensure that the power supply line and the plug are dry. (cid:122) Do not place the device near naked flames or other heat sources (heaters, direct sunlight, gas ovens etc.). (cid:122) Caution! Danger of overheating! Ensure at all times that there is sufficient ventilation so that the heat that arises during operation does not build up. Make sure that the device is sufficiently far away from walls and other ob- jects so that the air can circulate. (cid:122) Do not fill the inner container with ice or fluid. This is normal because the moisture in the air condenses to water when the temperature in the cooler falls. The cooler is not defective. Wipe it out with a dry cloth if necessary. (cid:122) Do not touch exposed cables with your bare hands. This espe- cially applies when operating the device with an AC mains pow- er supply. Danger of fatal injuries! The appliance may also be used for camping use. The appliance shall not to be exposed to rain. a Caution! You can cool products to a maximum of 18°C under the ambient temperature . A grid divider can be used to separate foodstuffs, e.g. bottles and fruit. The device has two wheels and a multi-function handle so that it can be pulled along. Alternatively, you can carry with two hands. Its cooling system is a non-wearing Peltier cooling, the heat is discharged by a fan. Dezember 2010 1:55 13 P40, W40 Operation 5 Operation I Note Before starting your new cooling device for the first time, you should clean it inside and outside with a damp cloth for hygienic reasons (please also refer to the chapter “Cleaning and mainte- nance” on page10). 5.1 Energy saving tips (cid:122) Choose a well ventilated installation location which is protected against direct sunlight. (cid:122) Allow warm food to cool down first before placing it in the device to keep cool. (cid:122) Do not open the cooling device more often than necessary. (cid:122) Do not leave the cooler unit open for longer than necessary. 5.2 Using the cooler I Note Like every cooling device, your cooler must be properly ventilated so that any heat created can dissipate. Otherwise proper function- ing cannot be ensured. ➤ Place the cooler on a firm base. ➤ Connect the DC connection cable (fig.12, page3) to the cigarette light- er or a DC plug socket in the vehicle. or … ➤ Connect the 230V connection cable (fig.13, page3) to the 230VAC mains supply. Ensure that the objects placed in the cooler are suitable for cooling to the selected temperature. ➤ If you wish to switch the cooler off, disconnect the plug. 5.3 Connecting to a cigarette lighter I Note If you connect the device to the cigarette lighter of your vehicle, remember that the ignition must be turned on to supply the device with power. 6 Cleaning and maintenance e Caution! Always disconnect the device from the mains before you clean and service it. a Caution! Do not clean the cooler under running water or in dish water. a Caution! Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or hard objects during clean- ing as these can damage the cooler. ➤ Occasionally clean the device interior and exterior with a damp cloth. 10
