It also publishes papers on thinkers or movements outside that framework (and including Kant), as long as they are important for illuminatingearlymodernthought.Thecoreofthesubjectmatteris, of course, philosophy and its history. But the volume’s papers reflect the fact that philosophy in this period was much broader in its scope thanitisnowtakentobe, andincludedagreatdealofwhatcurrently belongstothenaturalsciences.Furthermore, philosophyintheperiod was closely connected with other disciplines, such as theology, and with larger questions of social, political, and religious history. While maintaining a focus on philosophy, the volume includes articles that examine the larger intellectual, social, and political context of early modern philosophy. While the articles in the volume are of import- ancetospecialistsinthevarioussubfieldsofthediscipline, ouraimisto publish essays that appeal not only to scholars of one particular figure or another, but to the larger audience of philosophers, intellectual historians, andotherswhoareinterestedintheperiod. Oxford Studies in Early Modern Philosophy appears once a year in a singlevolumeavailableinbothhardbackandpaperback,andcontain- ing roughly 250–350 pages. While everything will be published in English, essaysmayalsobesubmittedinFrench,German,orItalian.
