(right): "Workin' a backhoe is easy, but I just can't figure out this damn bell." 2 TheOwl The Phoenix of antiquity was a magnificent bird that would consume itself every 500 years on a pyre of flame and then arise from the ashes. the old will always give way to the new, empires will fall, and cities will topple; change is inevitable, but so are new beginnings. the axiom "nature abhors a vacuum," while no longer scientific fact, still applies to society! when an institution dies off, something will inevitably come to replace it. all things must eventually experi- ence a new beginning. mus is no exception, and thisyear has been aperiod ofrebirth forthe school. Change has punctuated this year: the language wing and the lower school gym were torn down, and a new student center was built in their place; the computer labswere completelyremodeled; teachers left, and newonesjoined. these changes, while bringing newt life to the school, have joined with the old to rejuvenate MUS. ........ * i(above): The 'Ceremonial Giant Pile of Dirt.'
