What is Snapshot? • A method of tracking and monitoring students academic progress. • Every 5 weeks through a checkpoint. • This information is disaggregated to Homerooms/Care Teachers, Subject Areas, Leadership – and of course – students, teachers & parents. • From this data, specific support frameworks can be implemented for students around recovery and enhancement. • Powerful conversations are happening around the data post-snapshot every 5 weeks. • Consistently pausing to evaluate our progress, impact and seeking to improve. Why Snapshot - Salisbury Why Snapshot - OLSH • Students slipping through gaps • Unwelcomed surprises at parent/teacher nights & on report cards. • Lack of transparency between student-teacher-parent. • Teachers isolated in Alice Springs working on their own in a subject area – no data to see which teachers may need support. Creating change. • Raising the Bar - Students & Staff • Reflecting on performance every 5 weeks encourages consistent conversation around giving 100% and improvement. • Opportunity to set regular and explicit short term goals. • Students are given time and support to create a Review & Action Plan to unpack ‘where to next’ which also goes home to parents. • Heads of Department receive data on overall faculty performance and can identify critical areas. • Leadership, Curriculum, VET/Careers coordinators & Counsellors receive data and ensure students are on the best pathway to achieve their potential and also focus on students who may need support academically & pastorally.
