The main objective of OLA 2022 was to attract influential researchers from all over the world in the fields of complex problems optimization, machine learning, and deep learning to discuss the synergies between these research fieldsandtheirapplicationsforreal-worldproblems,amongstotherthings.Theconfer- enceaimstobuildaniceatmospherewhererelevantresearcherspresenttheirinnovative works. ThreecategoriesofpaperswereconsideredinOLA2022,namely,ongoingresearch works,highimpactjournalpublications(bothintheshapeofanextendedabstract),and regularpaperswithnovelcontentsandimportantcontributions.Aselectionofthebest papersinthislattercategoryispublishedinthisbook. Theconference receivedatotalof52papers,ofwhich46werepresentedatOLA 2022edition.Thepresentationswerearrangedintoninesessions,coveringtopicssuch astheuseofoptimizationmethodstoenhancelearningtechniques,theuseoflearning techniquestoimprovetheperformanceofoptimizationmethods,advancedoptimization methodsandtheirapplications,machineanddeeplearningtechniques,orapplications of learning and optimization tools to transportation and routing, scheduling, or other real-worldproblems.
