244 BulletinofZoologicalNomenclature49(3)September1992 OPINION 1693 CoccinellaundecimnotataSchneider, [1792] (currentlyHippodamia (Semiadalia) undecimnotata,Insecta, Coleoptera):specificname conserved Ruling (1) Under the plenary powers the following specific names are hereby suppressed for the purposes of the Principle of Priority but not for those of the Principle of Homonymy: • (a) oculataThunberg, 1781,aspublishedinthebinomenCoccinellaoculata; (b) circularisOlivier, 1791,aspublishedinthebinomenCoccinellacircularis. (2) The name undecimnotata Schneider, [1792], as published in the binomen Coccinella undecimnotata, is hereby placed on the Official List ofSpecific Names in Zoology. (3) The following names are hereby placed on the Official Index ofRejected and InvalidSpecificNamesinZoology: (a) oculata Thunberg, 1781, as published in the binomen Coccinella oculata and as defined by the lectotype designated by Pope (1987), suppressed in (l)(a) above; (b) circularis Olivier, 1791, as published in the binomen Coccinella circularis, suppressedin(l)(b)above.
