The Journal of Arachnology 34:646-648 SHORT COMMUNICATION ON THE VENEZUELAN SPECIES OE JUMPING SPIDER DESCRIBED BY SCHENKEL (ARANEAE, SALTICIDAE) Gustavo Rodrigo Sanches Ruiz and Antonio Domingos Brescovit: Laboratorio de Artropodes, Institute Butantan, Av. Vital Brazil 1500, CEP 05503-900, Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil. E-mail: gustavoruiz86(®hotmaiLcom ABSTRACT. Two new synonyms are established in Salticidae: Menemerusfalconensis Schenkel 1953 is designated as a junior synonym of Freya infuscata (F.O. Pickard-Cambridge 1901); and Phiale albo- vittata Schenkel 1953 is designated as a junior synonym of Freya perelegans Simon 1902. In addition, the new combination Cotiniisafurcifera (Schenkel 1953) is proposed for Bredafurcifera Schenkel 1953. Keywords: South America, taxonomy, Cotinusa, Freya After the examination ofsome arachnids brought TAXONOMY from Venezuela by Dr. K.
