In case of contact, immediately wash skin with soap and copious amounts of water. If inhaled remove operative to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration, if breathing is difficult seek medical attention. In cases of ingestion – wash out mouth with water – DO NOT induce vomiting. If patient is conscious give water to drink. If patient feels unwell seek medical attention. N.B. Persons with allergies and/or asthma may exhibit hypersensitivities to Sulphates. TREATMENT OF SPILLAGE: Evacuate area – wear respirator, chemical safety goggles and chemical resistant gloves. Sweep up, place in bag, hold for waste disposal. Avoid raising dust. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pick-up, and wash thoroughly after handling. DISPOSAL ARRANGEMENTS: Small quantities – add to a large stirred excess of water, separate any insoluble liquids or solids. Adjust Ph to neutral. Flush the aqueous solution down the drain with plenty of water. If breathing is difficult, seek medical attention. Wash contaminated clothes before re-use. Discard contaminated shoes. TREATMENT OF SPILLAGE: Evacuate area. Wear SCBA Rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves. Contain the spill with sand, earth or a spill kit and place in closed containers. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pick-up. DISPOSAL ARRANGEMENTS: Dilute with 3% solution of Sulphuric Acid and gradually add a 50% excess of Aqueous Sodium Bisulphite. Use a Certified Waste Carrier to remove any waste to a licensed facility. FIRE ACTION: Wear SCBA and protective clothing – unusual fire and explosions hazards – emits toxic fumes under fire conditions. Extinguisher Type: Dry Chemical Powder ASSESSED BY: Arran Lyne DATE: 20/11/11 OTHER COMMENTS: e.g. date of next assessment, monitoring requirements. Reacts violently with Ammonium Salts, Aziridine, Methanol, and Phenylacetonitrile sometimes resulting in explosions. Reacts with primary aliphatic amines to form explosively unstable N-chloramines. Reaction with formic acid becomes explosive at 55° C.
