From the Author

First off, although this is a work of fiction, some parts are real. If you take a close look you will find that this work of fiction closely mirrors today's economic conditions. The main character "John" has a series of conversations with a former client and "his mentor" in the book, these conversations, while not completely word for word, have occurred in my real life.

Second, I want to thank everyone that encouraged me during the two months it took to compose this novel. When I first sat down, staring at a blank Word document. I wondered if I could write a full novel. After the first day, 5,000 words had appeared on the screen. I set a goal of 75,000 words that night, but actually wrote more than 82,000 found in this book.

Finally, I also want to thank everyone that has taken the time to download and read this book! This is the first book in a series of books that I will be writing. The Awakening will lead up to the "Oh Sh!t" moment. Book 2 - will move the story line forward on how John and his family, along with his group struggle to survive. I truly hope that the "Oh Sh!t" moment never happens in anyone's life time, but just in case, if this or the rest of the series can help open one set of eyes to the uncontrolled freight train rambling towards the edge of the cliff, then maybe I have done some good. If not, and you enjoy reading this book, then I still have created something of value.
