CO. 141 AND143 RACESTREET. 1886. iv INTRODUCTORY. Kesolution adopted March 15th, 1884, thesum of twenty thousand dollars (20,000). The pub lication of said volumes shall be underthe direction of the Commissioners of Public Printing, togetherwith the Adjutant-General, who shall, within sixty days after the passage of this act, contractfor thepublication of said volumes, in the manner provided for in sectionso20 and o21 of theRevisedStatutes of Ohio, and who shall determine the size and style of type and page, quality and weightof paper, and style of binding, and they shall have printed and bound, as speedily aspossible, consistent with proper execution of the work, an edition of ten thousand copiesofeach ofsaid volumes; provided, the costof said publication shall not exceed one dollar per volume of notlessthanseven hundred and fifty pages. SEC. 2. Thedistribution ofsaid volumes shall be under the direction of the Adjutant-Gen eral, andshall be asfollows: Toeach Memberof theGeneral Assembly, ten copies ; To theAdjutant-General, fordistribution to the Adjutants-General of each State and Terri tory, and properofficialsof the War Department at Washington, D. C., sixty copies; To each of the State officers of Ohio, and to each of the various State departments and institutions, one copy; To the State Library, fifty copies for exchanges, and ten copies to be retained permanently therein ; To each incorporated public library of the State, one copy: To each post of the Grand Army ofthe Republic, on condition that if the post bo disbanded at any time thesameshall be returned to theState Library, une copy; and to the Departmentof OhioGrand Army ofthe Republic, and of the Loyal Legion, each one copy ; Toeach County Recorder, to be by him kept in his office and transferred to his successor as otherpublic records, one copy. The remainderofsaid copies aftersuch distribution shall be placed onsale by the Adjutant- General, at a price not exceeding one dollar per volume. lie shall keep a record of such sales and shall, at the end of each quarter of the fiscal year, pay into the State treasury the sum received, until all of said volumes are sold, unless otherwise directed by the General Assembly; provided, thatheshall not sell more than one copy ofeach of said volumes to the same person. SEC. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after itspassage. Under the provisions of this act, the Board thereby created, 011 July 7th, 1886, awarded the contract for furnishing the two volumes to "The Ohio Valley Publishing and Manufacturing Company," of Cincinnati, at the com paratively low price of $20,000 for the 20,000 copies. To this company great credit is due for the handsome manner in which the Avork has been exe cuted, both in printing and binding, and it is but just to add that they have displayedgreat energy in pushing the work to a speedy completion under unexpected embarrassments and difficulties.
