Handling fee Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks Patent Cooperation Treaty Update Accession by Ghana The United States Patent and Trademark Office received notification from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) that Ghana deposited its instruofm acecensstio n of theP CTo n Novembe2r6 , 1996. Ghana will become a Contracting State of the PCT on February 26, 1997. Consequently, nationals and residents of Ghana are entitled to file international applications under the PCT on and after February 26, 1997, and from the same date it is possible to file international applications designating and electing Ghana (country code: GH). Since Ghana is a member of the Harare Protocol with the framework of ARIPO, Ghana will be able to be designated for a patent granted by ARIPO. As of February 26, 1997, any designation in an international application for an ARIPO patent will automatically include the designation of Ghana for that purpose.
