The 20 original member countries of the OECD are Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ice- land, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the U nited States. The following 10 countries became members subsequently: Japan (1964), Finland (1969), Australia (1971), New Zealand (1973), Mexico (1994), the Czech Republic (1995), Hungary (1996), Poland (1996), Ko- rea (1996) and the Slovak Republic (2000).
