Introduction
ThoughtwelvespeciesbelongingtothegenusProcleonle11esGREsslTTetRoNDoN
havebeen known from EastandSoutheast Asia(GREssITT & RoNDoN, 1970;NIIsATo,
1981, 1985, 1986; HUA, 1986; HoLzscHUH, 1991, 1998), no representative of this
genushassofarbeenrecorded fromthePhilippineIslands.Throughthecourtesyof
ourcolleagues,wewereabletoexamine fourspecimensofPl・ocleomenescollected
from MindoroandMindanao IslandsofthePhilippines. 0ur careful examinationre-
vealedthattheywereclassifiedintothreenewspeciesoftwodifferent lineages, the
groupof つf01-17eens!s,towhichbelong of)f/7a1・alsp nov from Mindoroand ca 1-
gas1sp nov fromMindanao,andthegroupofPe1ongatlt/1o,-a、-, towhichbelongsP
ph11ippinenslssp nov fromMindanao. Inthispaper,wewill recordt1、egenusforthe
firsttime fromthePhilippineIslandsbasedonthesethreenewspecies.

Female. Length 8.3-9.5mm (from apical margin of cIypeus to abdominal
apex);width:1.6mm(acrosshumeriofelytra).
Largerobustspecies,withratherlargeforebody,longandslenderappendages.
Colourbrownishblacktodarkbrown.shiny,withfaintbluetintonhead.purplish
or greentintonpronotum;antennaeunico1orouslydark brown,pedunclesof femora
yellowishwhite;mouthpartsyellowishbrown,withmandiblesdark reddishbrownex-
copt forinfuscateinnermargins;elytrablackishbrown,withtwobroadtransversepale
yellowbandsonbasalandapical third.
Headlarge,withlarge,stronglyprominenteyes, distinctlywider thanpronota1
apex (1.25:1), verysparsely providedwithsmall punctures,obliquely furrowedat
sidesofocciputbehindeyes,sparselyclothedwithpaleyellowhairs; fronsnearly7/10
thelengthofbasalwidth,almostflattened,gentlyconvexinapicalhalf ratherclosely
andcoarsely puncture withashallowmedianlongitudinalgrooveextendingtothe
anteriorpartofocciput,whichdisappearsnearapex, ratherdenselypalepubescent;
vertexmoderatelyconcave,moredeeplysoalongmedianline; genaenearlyhalfthe
depthoflowereye-lobes;eyesmarkedlyprominent.withupper-lobeslarge.separated
fromeachotherby5/8thewidthofocciput.Antennaefairlylongandratherslender,a
littlelongerthanbody,sparselyclothedwithpaleyellowhairs,withapicalhalfofseg-
ment5and6-11withdenseminutepalepubescence,undersidesofsegments2-6each
withasparserowoferectdarkreddishbrownhairs, thoughtheerecthairsarevery
longandstoutateachapexof3and4;scapemoderatelyclavateinapical3/5,widest
atapical fourth,rugoselypuncturedinbasalhalf;segment3stronglydilatedapicad,
2/5thelengthofscape,alittlemorethanahalfthelengthofsegment4,whichisdis-
tinctlythickenedatapexand4/5thelengthofsegment5;segments5-8slightlyde-
creasinginlength,apicalthreesegmentsreducedinlength,terminalsegmentarcuate.
Pronotumratherlarge,notsolong,2.08-2.l8timesaslongastheapicalwidth,a
littlemorethanahalfthelengthofelytra,hardlydilatedapicad;sidesfeeblysinuatein
apical2/9,weaklyarcuateatalevelbetweenapical2/9andbasal4/9,withsubtriangu-
1arlyprominent lateral tuberclesjust beforebasal4/9, thenst1-onglyconstrictedand
distinctlydilatedtohindangles;baseemarginatenearmiddle,nearlyequalinwidthto
apex;discdistinctlyconvex,withfivecommonswellingswellprominentandapproxi_
matetoeachother ofwhichapairofroundedonesareatapicalthird,apairoflongi-
tudinaloblongonesatbasalthirdandamedianoblongonebetweentheanteriorpair;
surfaceverysparselypunctured,except fortheareasaroundthedisca1swellingswhich
aremoreor lessrugose,andalsowithsubtransversefurrowsonbasalcollar,sparsely
clothedwithpale yellow hairs. Scutellum dilatedapicad、roundedat apex densely
clothedwithsilverywhitepubescence.
Elytramoderate inlengthandbroad,2.82-3.12 timesaslongas thehumeral
width,reachingbaseofanal tergite,alittleexposingthesidesofmetathorax,arcuately

silvery whitepubescenceatsidesandmiddleofprosternum,most ofmesothorax,
basal thirdandapicalmarginofmetasternum,smallposteriorpartofmetepisternum,
andnearhindcoxae.Prosternumcoarselyrugosenearmiddle,withshallow transverse

furrowson therest; presternal processcompressedandalmost flattenedbetween the
coxalcavities,graduallydilatedanddepressedbehindthemandgentlyarcuateatapex.
Mesosternumsmooth, thoughsomewhat rugosenearbase,withmesosternal process
rather broadandalmost parallel between thecoxal cavities, distinctly borderedat
sides.Metasternumverysparselypuncturedandshagreened,withtheanteriormargin
slightly produced and resting on mesosterna1process. Abdomen broad and rather
short,arcuateatsides,providedwithafewminutepunctures,scatteredwithpaleyel-
lowhairs,withanalsternitegentlyarcuateatapex.
Legs fairly longandratherslender;hind femur weaklyarcuatenear base, and
moderatelyswolleninapicalthird.

species,itiseasilydiscriminated fromthelatterbythelargeandrobustbodyandthe
distinctlytoothedelytra1apices.
Thetwo female specimens examinedwereunexpectedly collectedby random
sweepinginthenaturalforestonMt.HaIconofMindoroIsland.Accordingtopersonal
communication fromH.EBIHARA,thecollectorofthetypeseries,thespecimenswere
foundat thecollectingsiteofthemountain,wheretherewereneitherflowersnornat-
uralgapsintheprimeval forest.

width:1.8mm(acrosshumeriofelytra).
Closelyalliedtotheprecedingspecies,1)eblha1-a1sp nov.,but iseasily distin-
guishedby thepalecoloredapicalsegmentsofantenna,andthemarkedlyproduced
sutural teethofeIytralapices.
Colouralmostasin1)chiba,・c11, thoughslightlymoreblackishandwithoutbluish
orgreenishtinton forebody;antennaewithsegments1-4brownishblack,segment5
darkbrownwithbrownishbase,segments6-8darkbrownwithyellowishbaseswhich
arelighterincolorationandenlargedinyellowishpartstowardsapicalsegments,seg-
ments9-l lalmostpaleyellow.Hairsandpubescencealmostasin chiba,al, though
denseronventralsurface,sidesofprosternumalmostdevoidofpubescence.

Notes. Thisnewspeciesmaypossiblyberegardedasalocalpopulationofthe
precedingspecies,Rebihala1sp nov.,sincemany basic characters aresharedby the
twospecies.However,wedescribeditasanindependentspecies forthereasonofquite
differentcolorationofantennae, theabsenceofdensepubescenceatthesidesofpro-
thorax,markedlyprolongedapicesoftheelytra,andsomeotherdetails. It isalsovery
interesting fromzoogeographicalviewpointsincethetwosiblingspeciesofthesame
species-groupareisolatedintheregionofMindoroandtheSuluIslandsandtheregion
ofMindanaoofthePhilippineIslands.
Asinglefemalespecimenofthisnewspecieswithoutecological informationwas
available fordescription.

Colour brownish black to black, partly pale yellow, shiny; head black, with
mouthpartsreddishbrown,except forblackmandibular apicesand yellowishbrown
palpi; antennaedark brown inbasal threesegments, segments4-5darkbrownwith
reddishbrownbasalparts,segments6-9lightyellowishbrownwithdarkbrownapical
parts,apicaltwosegmentsalmostentirelylightyellowishbrown;pronotumandscutel-
lumblack; elytradarkbrown thoughmorebrownish in apical parts, decoratedwith
paleyellow bandsat base, andbasalandapical 3/8; ventralsurfacebrownishblack,
slightly brownishat baseofprosternum,mesosternumandabdomen; legs chestnut
brown with pale yellow pedunculate parts of femora, tarsi dark yellowish brown

beforemiddle,moderatelyarcuatelydilatedtoapicalsixth,thenarcuatelyna1Towedto
apiceswhichareobtusely dentateatexternalangles,and formingprolongedarcuate
teethatinnerside;discalmost flattened,withshallowoblongdepressionnearsuture
behindscutellum, slightly impressedat apicalsixth; surfacesparselyprovided with
moderate-sizedpunctures,thinlywithshortpalehairs.
Venterofthoracesverysparselyhairedinmostparts,withdensesilverywhitepu-
bescenceatsidesandmiddleofprosternum, inmesothorax,nearbasalandapicalmar-
ginsofmetasternumincludingcoxae,andapicalfifthofmetepisternum,andnearhind
coxae.Prosternumfinely rugosenearmiddle,transversely furrowedinapical3/7,pro-
videdwithafewcoarsepuncturesnearapicalmargin;presternalprocesscompressed
andslightlyverticalbetweenthecoxalcavities,slightlydilatedtoroundedapicalpart
which isdepressed. Mesosternumsmooth, finelypuncturednearbase,withmesoster-
na1processratherbroadandparallel-sided, distinctlyborderedatmargins,truncateat
apex.Metasternumsmoothnearmiddle,verysparselyscatteredwithpunctures,with
theanteriormarginproducedandjustmeetingmesosterna1process. Abdomenbroad
andmoderate in length,arcuateatsides, providedwitha few shallow medium-sized
punctures,scatteredwithafewpaleyellowhairs;analsternitegentlyproduced tomid-
dleinapicalmargin.

Notes.ThisnewspeciesmayhavesomerelationshiptoF)e1ongat11horaxGREs-
slTTetRoNDoN,originallydescribed fromLaosof Indochina, forreasonofthesmall
forebodycontractingthewholebodylength, theconvergentapicalpartofpronotum
andthethreepalebandsontheelytra.Thetwospeciesmayhavebeenderivedfroma
commonancestorandarenowisolatedinthePhilippinesandIndochina,thoughtheir
dispersal routesaredifficulttoestimatesincethereisaverywideblankbetweenthe
knownrangesofthetwospecies.
Thoughbelongingtodifferent lineages,thisnewspeciesand cabigas1sp nov.
sharethepaleapicalsegmentsofantennaandtheacutelyprolongedapicesofelytra.
Thesecharacterstatesmaybecausedbyconvergenceindwellinginthesamehabitat
ofBukidnonofMindanaoIsland.

要 約
新里達也・E.VIvEs:P,・oc/eo,nones属のフィリピン初記録と3新種の記破. - P,・ocleo,nones
属の力ミキリムシは, 束アジア~束南アジアにかけての地域からこれまでに12種が記録されて
いるが, フィリピンからは未知であった. 今回, 同諸島のミンドロ島とミンダナオ島から採集
された本属の3新種をもとに, 同諸島から初めて本属を記録した. インドシナからスンダラン
ドにかけて分布の中心をもっと考えられていた本属のカミキリムシがフィリピンより見出され
たことは, 本属の分布拡散を考察するうえできわめて重要な発見だといえる.
1)Pl・ocleo,nonesebi1/ataiNllsAToetVlvEs,spnov.:till老原裕之氏によって, ミンドロ島で得ら
れた個体をもとに命名記破した本種は, マレ一半島とポルネオから知られる1) bo,・noons,s極群
に属する. もっとも近縁な極はボルネオの1)bo,・noons,sであるが, 大きくffi強な体や鋭く尖る
上翅端の形状などにより区別は容易である.
2)Pl・ocleonlenescabigasiNllsAToetVlvEs,sp nov. :前極にきわめて近緑で, ミンダナオ島にお
, けるその地域集団ともみなされる. ただし, 本種では角v角l先端節が黄白色となり 上 翅端は細
長く突出するなどの特徴を備えており, 明確に識別することができる. 地理的に速い隔離と明
1瞭な形態的形質から, あえて独立種として命名記破した.
