Recently,atrechinespecimenbelongingtothegenusT1'e・(hoble'mlswasfoundout jn thecollectionofthe InstituteofBiologyand Pedology, Vladivostok. It waskept jnalotofold Japanesematerial received fromSakhalin, andbearsalabel inscribed ''saghalienCentralExpt.Sta./193225/XI/collectedinhibernation ' It is therefore apparentthatthespecimenwastakenatKonuma(nowNovoaleksandrovsk) insouth- ern sakhalin, wheretheSaghalien Central ExperimentStation [for agriculture and forestry]waslocatedintheprewar time. Afteracarefulexamination,ithasbecomeclearthatthespecimenisalmostiden- tjca1wjth thoseof T1・ec・/1oblemuspostl/e1'attls (H.W. BATES) from Cent「al and West Japanbut differs fromthemin thecompletely flat eyes. It is true that thesize and convexityofeyesarerather variableinJapanesespecimensofT.postilenatus. They arerather flatespeciallyinthespecimensfrom Hokkaidoadjacent toSakhalin, but notsocompletelyflatasintheSakhalinspecimenunderconsideration. On theother hand,specificdifferencesareusuallysubtlein the trechinebeetlesbelongingto the genus T1,echoblemus. Although thesix species of thegenus hithertodescribed are classjfjedintotwospecies-groups,thatofT.'nl'(1''osandthatof T.post11enattls,onthe basisof differenceingenitalicconformation, fiveof thesixbelongtothelatter and onlyoneofthefive,T mi(・:1・op/1t/1almttsS. BATES),T. ll',1drothi'SUENsoN(1957,p 93,pl 2,upperleft), T.valentineiSUENsoN(1957, 94,pl 2,upperright),andT.、、,est、(ottl'BARR(l971,p. l42,figs.1-2),areveryclosely p relatedandsometimesdifficulttodistinguishonefromanother. For instance, thetwo Chinesespecies(thesecondandthird)canbereadilydistinguished fromeachother, but thedifferenceisbridged tosomeextent by theJapanesespecies, T.post1/enatus. Theseniorauthorhasre-examinedtheirtypematerialandmadeadetailedcomparative studyoftheir malegenitalia, whicharecloselysimilar tooneanother. Under these circumstances, thepresent authorsprefer toregard theSakhalinspecimenasanex- treme local form of T.postl/e,7atus, leavingthefinal determinationofitssystematic statusuntil a longer series of specimensareobtained from thevicinities of Novo- aleksandrovsk. However,asamemberofthegenusT1,・ee/1ob/e,mlsisfoundforthefirst time from theRussian Far East, afulldescriptionoftheSakhalinspecimenwillbegiven in the present paper for facilitating futurestudies. The abbreviations used herein are the sameasthoseexplainedinthepreviouspaper oftheauthors' (UENo & LAFER,1994, pp. ll2-ll3). TheauthorsaredeeplyindebtedtoMr.SumacKAsAHARAfor takingthetrouble toinkthesketchesprepared by LAFER. Colourconcolorouslyyellowishbrown,notinfuscatedevenonhead:elytrasemi- transparent, showinghind wingsby transparency. Headmat, pronotum andelytra moderatelyshiny,withfeeblesilkylustre. Bodyelongate, parallel-sidedanddepressed, denselycoveredwith suberect pu- bescenceexceptforheadandprosternum,ofwhichtheformersparselybearsshortpu- bescenceandthelatterbearsafewhairsinthemiddle; legswhollypubescent. Micro- sculptureisodiametricandcoarseon head, transversely reticulated for themost part ofpronotum,andofobscuretransverselinesonelytra,eIytraIintervalsfinelypunctate, eachpuncturebearingahair. Measurements(inmm)as follows: HW0.83, HL0.58, PW1.10,PLC.90,PL,0.93,PA0.83,PB0.83,EW145,EL2.55. It isworthnotingthat inthesubfamilyTrechinae, andinmost beetles, reductionofhindwingsusuallyprecedes that ofeyes. Thesituationis reversein the Sakhalinspecimen, inwhichthehindwingsarenormally developed in spiteof the completeflatteningoftheeyes. InmanyJapanesespecimensofT.postile'latus,theheadistransverselyinfuscated acrosstheeyesandtheelytrahaveapairofmat-defineddarkblotches. This js,how_ ever,notdefinite;certainspecimensareconco1orouslyyellowishbrownasisthecase oftheSakhalinspecimen. Incidentally,UENohasseentheholotypeofTrechuspost1_' /enatuspreservedintheNaturalHistoryMuseum,London. Itisafemale(4.60mm inthelengthofbody)takenbyGeorgeLEWISatOsakain1871,with the fo11owjng standardratiosofbodyparts:PW/HW1.19,PW/PL126,PW/PA t.35,pw/pB132, PB/PA1.02, EW/PW136, EL/EW178. Thesedataclearly show that thehead is narrower,that is, theeyesarelessconvex,intheSakhalinspecimenthaninthewest Japaneseone. 要 約 上野俊一' G・ Sh. LAFER: サハリンのアトスジチビゴミムシ. 一 ウラデイゥ゛ォストクのロシア 科学院生物学_:◆i11、学研究所に保管されていた古い標木のなかに, サハリン産のアトスジチビコ、ミムシ が1点みつかった. この標木は,戦争までの小沼にあった準i 太庁中央試験所に所蔵されていたもので, 越冬中を採集されたと付記されている.日本のァ1、スジチビゴミムシとほぼ完全に一致するが,複限 のまったく膨隆していない点が異なっているので, 仮に同一種のTrechoblemuspostilenatus(H.w. ., BATES) と認定し, 念のために記1,1をカつけておいた い ずれにしても こ の属のチビゴミ (cid:0)(cid:18245)(cid:18175), ハリンから初めての記録になる.
