Preview O come, O come Emmanuel! O come, O come, Emmanuel!

O come, O come Emmanuel! O come, O come, Emmanuel! Redeem thy captive Israel, That into exile drear is gone, Far from the face of God’s dear son. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, thou branch of Jesse! Draw The quarry from the lion’s claw, From the dread caverns of the grave, From nether hell, thy people save. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O come, thou dayspring bright! Pour on our souls thy healing light, Dispel the long night’s lingering gloom, And pierce the shadows of the tomb. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. IN THE BLEAK MID WINTER In the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone, Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak mid-winter, long ago. Our God, heaven can’t hold Him, nor Earth sustain, Heaven and Earth shall flee away, when He comes to reign. In the bleak mid-winter a stable-place sufficed The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ. Enough for him whom cherubim worship night and day A breastful of milk and a mangerful of hay Enough for him whom angels fall down before The ox and ass and camel which adore. Angels and Archangels may have gathered there, Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air, But only his mother in her maiden bliss, Worshipped the Beloved with a kiss. What can I give Him, poor as I am ? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb, If I were a wise man, I would do my part, what I can Yet I give him, give my heart. IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth to touch their harps of gold, "Peace on the earth, good will to men, from heaven's all- gracious King", The world in solemn stillness lay, to hear the angels sing. Yet with the woes of sin and strife the world has suffered long, Beneath the angel-strain have rolled two thousand years of wrong, And man at war with man hears not the love song which they bring, O hush the noise ye men of strife and hear the angels sing. For lo! the days are hastening on, by prophet bards foretold, When with the ever-circling years comes round the age of gold, When peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendours fling, And all the world give back the song which now the angels sing. SEE AMID THE WINTER'S SNOW See Amid The Winter's Snow, Born for us on earth below, See the tender Lamb appears, Promised from eternal years. (Chorus) Hail thou ever blessed morn! Hail redemption's happy dawn! Sing through all Jerusalem, Christ is born in Bethlehem. Lo, within a manger lies, He who built the starry skies, He who, throned in height sublime, Sits amid the cherubim. (Chorus) Say, ye holy shepherds, say, What your joyful news today? Wherefore have ye left your sheep, On the lonely mountain steep? (Chorus) Hail thou ever blessed morn! Hail redemption's happy dawn! Sing through all Jerusalem, Christ is born in Bethlehem. “As we watched at dead of night, Lo, we saw a wondrous light, Angels singing ‘Peace on earth’ Told us of the Saviour's birth.” (Chorus) Teach O teach us holy child, By thy face so meek and mild, Teach us to resemble thee In thy sweet humility. (Chorus) Hail thou ever blessed morn! Hail redemption's happy dawn! Sing through all Jerusalem, Christ is born in Bethlehem. THE HOLLY AND THE IVY O the holly and the ivy, When they are both full grown Of all the trees that are in the wood The holly tree bears the crown (Chorus): O the rising of the sun And the running of the deer The playing of the merry organ Sweet singing all in the choir O the holly bears a blossom As white as the lily flower And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ To be our sweet Saviour (Chorus)
