ometimes in life, when an opportunity comes up,
you need to grab it with both hands and run with it.
Even more so when there are no opposing forces,
only problems that can be effortlessly solved.
What am I on about? Well, my wife Tamarin has
been offered a job too good to pass on in Sydney,
Australia, and I will also make the move across the
ditch for the proposed 12-month contract, now set
in stone.
Initially, the thought of leaving NZPC Towers was daunting, as this
is my dream job. However, the boost in my partner’s career was mind-
blowing, so I decided to take this as an opportunity to spread my wings
and see what the Australians have to offer in terms of performance-car
content (marriage is all about compromise!). I’ve already spoken to a few
key contacts over in Sydney, but what I’m most excited about is finally
being able to get up close and personal with the best time-attack cars
in Australia and being able to follow their builds in detail. I’ll also tie up
with all the Kiwis who have made the move to Australia to showcase
what they’re building across the ditch — inflicting their unique Kiwi style
on the Aussies.
This certainly won’t be the last of me in these pages. I’ll still write
the odd article and focus my efforts on our forever-growing kick-arse
website, themotorhood.com. I’ve met some amazing people over the
last two years or so, most of who I will call close friends for a long time.
I just want to thank all the readers of NZPC: you made the job what
it was. So, expats, see you down at Bondi Beach or at the race track —
and Aussies, watch out!
