My grandfather loves me and worries about me, but I can't believe what he just did—told my family that I have a boyfriend. "We'll figure it out," does not stop me from panicking since I am decidedly, happily single. But he's right, it would be so much easier to present a boyfriend, even a fake one, at our holiday gatherings, rather than listening to my mom harp on about why I am single. All the reasons. I didn't think Gramps could shock me anymore until he persuades the neighbor, Nick, to play the part. And things get a lot more interesting since I've been crushing on Nick since he moved in.

I just want to live my nice quiet life in the country, just outside of Eden, PA. I don't need any fuss around Christmas. I certainly don't need to waste my time pretending to be some woman's boyfriend. But the old man next store is ingeniously persuasive, and his granddaughter definitely makes me want to reconsider my lack of holiday spirit. I'll do my part, sure, but after the presents are all unwrapped and the proverbial Christmas goose is cooked and gone, I'd like to get back to my nice, quiet life.
