Northern Polytunnels was purchased by the Wolfenden family 30 years ago to run alongside their already established horticultural sundries business, LBS Horticulture Ltd. In 2001 Northern Polytunnels became a limited company in its own right (NP Structures Ltd.), but continued to trade under the established Northern Polytunnels brand as part of the LBS group. In 2012 the company completely demerged from LBS Horticulture Ltd. with sole ownership of NP Structures Ltd. passing to Ian Wolfenden. LBS Horticulture Ltd. was retained by Ian’s older siblings, and thus ended a 25 year business relationship. Today NP Structures Ltd. is a thriving business servicing both the domestic and commercial horticultural markets, but also seeing growth in the agricultural, automotive and construction industries. Some of this growth has been generated by our newly created Britcover division which specialises in heavy-duty, PVC-coated fabric structures, used as general storage and work shelters. Our design team is working on a number of new products aimed across a wide range of industries, as well as looking at ways of further developing our current horticultural structures. Our policy of reinvestment into our manufacturing equipment has delivered the most up to date facility in the UK for the type of fabrication and structures we manufacture. We operate standard machinery alongside the specialist machinery which we have developed ourselves. These include CNC tube benders, ABB robotic welding cells (up to 8mtr long capacity), laser and plasma CNC cutting, fully automatic fl ow drilling machinery, PVC welding equipment (including high frequency), and hot melt & hot air technologies. This enables us to manufacture parts effi ciently and accurately time after time. Our raw I materials are both certifi ed and certifi cated (where possible) so that we can guarantee consistent N quality. T R We use the latest state-of-the-art 3D computer modelling software for drawing-up our designs. Our O structural engineering analysis software enables our design team to analyse the stresses and strains of various wind speeds and snow loadings, giving an accurate representation of what happens in real D life. Ultimate confi dence in our design, materials and manufacturing processes enables us to give our U customers peace of mind when choosing one of our structures. C We pride ourselves on good customer service, and with almost 50 years’ experience fabricating T structures, our staff can ensure you get the best service and highest quality product from one of the I O UK’s leading manufacturers. N 5 Garden Centre Canopies Visit... www.npstructures.co.uk Garden Centre Canopies Garden centre canopies come in many shapes and sizes, no two ever being exactly the same. We offer two standard designs, the trellis arch and the curved box arch. Box Arch As the name suggests the arches are manufactured from box-section steel, whereby we take straight lengths of steel box section and bend it to the desired curvature for each particular structure. Fixing plates are welded to each end before the Booths Garden Centre finished arches are hot-dipped galvanised. The upright posts (legs) are also produced from steel box section with base plates and gutter brackets being welded to the top and base. Heavy duty, flame retardant PVC-coated fabric is used to clad the roof (and sides where applicable) and is available in a variety of colours, translucent being the most popular by far. Box arches are generally used for narrow canopies and covered walkways and are generally available from 3m wide up to 7.5m. The length is unlimited. Trellis Arch S E A trellis arch is produced from two tubular steel arches, one with a slightly lower profile than the other. A zig zag matrix of short R Next Home and Garden steel bars is used to connect the two parts of the arch, creating U the trellis effect. This gives the arch the much needed strength T it requires to achieve wider spans. Typical trellis arch canopies C have spans from 8m up to 12m, although multiple bays can be U connected side by side along the gutters to produce any width of structure you require. Length is also unlimited. The arches R are supported by box section steel legs, which also support T the gutters. PVC coated fabric is used for the cladding, again, S translucent PVC coated fabric being the most widely preferred L option.
