SCIS2015highlightedtheScandinaviantraditionofstudying informationsystems, namely, with emphasis on the user: Designing for the user, with the user, and by the user.1Suchathemehascharacterizedinformationsystemsresearchfordecades,anditis stillavibranttopic,especiallysowithintheScandinaviantradition.Theresearchthemes of the conference and hence this volume nicely capture both user- and history-related aspectsofthetopic.Thestudiesaddressdesignfor,with,andbyusers,includingdesign for disadvantaged users, design for preservation and usability, and means for creative design and development as well as studies addressing emerging information systems history research. A total of 44 paper manuscripts were submitted for the conference. The evaluation wasacarefuldoubleblindreviewprocessthatincludedanaverageof3.1reviewersfor any given paper. Finally, 16 papers were accepted for presentation at the conference andintheseproceedingswiththeacceptancerateof36%.Theeventbroughttogether researchers not only from Scandinavia and elsewhere in Europe, but also from other corners of the world, such as South Africa, Japan, Canada, and the USA. SCIS 2015 had three outstanding keynote speakers: Yvonne Dittrich from IT University Copenhagen (Denmark), Jaana Porra from the University of Houston (USA), and Sampsa Hyysalo from Aalto University (Finland). These conference pro- ceedings also contain contributions from the keynote speakers. As in previous years, the SCIS conference was arranged in conjunction with the Information Systems Research Conference in Scandinavia, known as the IRIS con- ference, which began in 1978 and which with its 38th annual gathering is the oldest consecutiveinformationsystemsconferenceintheworld.IRISistodayorganizedasa working seminar between established researchers and doctoral students. The young researchers andtheirinterestin information systems boded well for shapingthe future of the field. We would like to thank the supporters and sponsors of this conference.
