Description:
No Cover for Tyrants is a compilation of the information contained in several lectures given by pastor Gordan Runyan. It is a verse-by-verse, and often phrase-by-phrase exposition of 1 Peter 2:13-17. This passage of Scripture urges Christian submission to human authorities, and has been used (or rather abused) by many to advocate for meticulous, unqualified obedience to all civil government, no matter what.
Pastor Runyan explains how the context of the passage does not support such an idea. He also goes into detail about the actual words the Apostle used, and why a word like "submit," for instance, does not mean unqualified obedience.
Considering the path that the governments of the world seem intent on pursuing (re: Marxism, deficit spending, totalitarian control of citizens, etc.) it is imperative that God's people genuinely understand what the Bible teaches about the relationship between Church and State, God and Government.
