Jamie produced a sodden packet ofpapers
and placed it on my desk. "It had some kind
of box around it, but that fell apart. The
papers got kind of wet and runny."
"Where did you find them, Jamie?" I
asked.
"They were under the corner of the well
house that the tree tipped over," he replied.
He disappeared through the door, and I
spread the soaked papers out on the desk to

Curiously I scanned the paper and then,
forgettingthat this was none ofmy business,
