N. FOR THE GENUS KARGALIA ARISTOV, 2009 (INSECTA: RECULIDA) D. S. Aristov Borissiak Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Profsoyuznaya str. 123, Moscow 117997, Russia. E-mail: [email protected] Cherepovets State University, Lunacharsky prospect 5, Cherepovets 162600, Vologda region, Russia. Summary. New substitute name Karga nom. n. is proposed for the genus Kargalia Aristov, 2008 (Insecta: Reculida: Kargalopteridae) to avoid homonomy with the conchostracan genus Kargalia Novojilov, 1956. Key words: Insecta, Reculida, Kargalia, Karga, taxonomy, Permian. Д. С. Kargalia Novojilov, 1956. Genus Kargalia was described by N.I. Novojilov (1956) for conchostracans Leaiidae from the Middle Permian Kargala locality (Orenburg region of Russia). Later the blattid insect genus of the family Spiloblattinidae has been described under the same name Kargalia from the same locality (Vishnyakova, 1993). Substitute name Vivablatta has been proposed to replace the spiloblattinids genus Kargalia (Vršanský & Mostovsky, 2000). Still later the same generic name Kargalia has been proposed once again, this time for reculid insects (Insecta; Reculida) of the family Kargalopteridae from the same locality (Aristov, 2009). Here I propose a new substitute name Karga nom. n. pro Kargalia Aristov, 2009 (non Kargalia Novojilov 1956, nec Kargalia Vishnyakova, 1993) in accordance with Article 60 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN, 1999). New generic name is given after the Kargala locality as well. New combination is proposed: Kargalia sakmarica Aristov, 2009 = Karga sakmarica (Aristov, 2009), comb. n.
