Theconferenceencompassed150presentationsorganizedin3plenarytalksand 42 sessions. Moreover, one tutorial on mixture modeling took place before the meeting.With225attendeesfrom11countries,theconferenceprovidedanattrac- tive interdisciplinary international forum for discussion and mutual exchange of knowledge. The topics of all plenary and specialized sessions were chosen to fit the mission of CLADAG which is to promotemethodological, computationaland appliedresearchwithinthefieldsofClassification,DataAnalysisandMultivariate Statistics. Thechaptersinthisvolumewereselectedinasecondpeerreviewprocessafter the conference. In additionto the fundamentalareas of clusteringand discrimina- tion, multidimensional data analysis and data mining, the volume contains some chaptersconcerningdataanalysisandstatisticalmodelinginareaslikeevaluation, economics, finance, environmentalandmedicalsciences, industryandservices. WewouldliketoexpressourgratitudetothemembersoftheScientificProgram committee for their ability to attractinteresting contributions. We wish also thank thesessionorganizersforinvitingspeakers, thechairpersonsanddiscussantsofthe sessions for their stimulating comments and suggestions.
