Description:It was 1934 and jobs were scarce. With so few prospects, Frank Davis joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (C.C.C.) at age 18. For the next two years he worked in western North Carolina. Along with hundreds of other young men his age, he built hiking trails, roads, overlooks, and walls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In these pages, he records his experiences as he matured, learned a trade, and made lasting friendships.
