Abstract A new apterousspeciesof thestaphylinidgenus La1/11・obi″t11 isde-
scribedunderthenameofL.(s.str)do二e11e11se,inadditiontono、vcollectingrecordofL
(s.str)okie'1se.Thespecimens、、creextractedbyaTullgrcnfunnel fromleaf-litteraccu-
mulatedinevergreenforestsonNishi-no-shimao「theDozenGroupoftheOkiIslandsoff
westernHonshu.Japan.
TheOkiIslandsarecomposedoftwoislandgroups,DogeandDozen,ofwhich
theformerconsistsofasinglelargeislandandthelatterofthreelargeandafewsmall
islands.
Inthepreviouspaper,wereportedL. (s.str)okienseY.WATANABEetSHIMADA
(2004,p 294) fromtheIslandofDogeoftheOkiIslandsasamemberofthegroupof
L. (s.str)n1ontlcola. After that, anumberofspecimensof anapterous Lat/1robiun1
wereobtainedbythesecondauthor fromtheIslandofNishi-no-shimaoftheDozen
GroupoftheOki IslandsoffwesternHonshu,Japan.Thesespecimenswereclassified
intotwospeciesbelongingtotwodifferentspecies-groups.0neofthemseemstobea
memberofthegroupofL.s/lingo,7inhavingrelativelylargebodyandremarkablesec-
ondarysexualcharectersofabdominalsternitesinthemale.Afteracloseexamination,
however, ithasbecomeclearthat it isnewtoscienceduetodifferenceinconfiguration
ofthemalegenitalorgan.TheotheroneundoubtedlyagreeswithL.(s.str)okie11sein
external featuresaswellasinthesecondarysexual charactersofabdominal sternites
andgenitalorganinthemale.Inthispaper,wearegoingtodescribethenewspeciesin
additiontothecollectingdataof L.(s.str)okle11se.Thetypespecimensof thenew
speciesaredepositedinthecollectionoftheLaboratoryofInsectResources,Tokyo

Body length: 7.2-8.4mm(from frontmarginofheadtoanalend); 3.5-3.8mm
(fromfrontmarginofheadtoelytra1apices).
Bodyelongate, parallel-sidedandsomewhat depressedabove. Colour blackish
browntoblackandmoderatelyshining,withmandiblesandantennaeexcept forred-
dishapical twoor threesegmentsreddishbrown,palpi,suturalandapicalmarginsof
elytra,legsandtwoapicalabdominalsegmentsbrownishyellow.
Male. Head somewhat depressedaboveandnearly quadrate thoughslightly
narrowedanteriad,alittletransverse(width/length=1.10),lateralsidesfeeblyarcuate
frontalareabetweenantennal tuberclesflattenedandglabrous,providedwitharemark-
ablesetiferouspunctureinsideeachantennal tubercle;surfacesparingly.coarselyand
setiferouslypunctured,thepuncturesbecomingmuchsparserinmedic-frontalpartand
coveredwithfinecoriaceousgroundsculptureallover,eyessmallandnearlyflat,their
longitudinaldiameteraboutone-thirdaslongaspostocularpart. Antennaeelongate,
extendingtothemiddleofpronotum,notthickenedtowardstheapicalsegment,6thto
10thsegmentsmoreor lessmoniliform,twoproximalsegmentspolishe(1.theremain-
ingsopaque;1st robustandstronglywidenedapicad,morethan t5timesaslongas
broa 2nd constricted at the base, 1.4 times as long as broad, clearly shorter
(2nd/1st=0.58)anda littlenarrower (2nd/1st=0.71)than1st,3rdalmost 15timesas
longasbroad,alittlelongerthan2nd(3rd/2nd=1.14)andnearlyasbroadas2n 4th
to10thalmostequal inbothlengthandwidthtooneanother,eachsomewhatshorter
than(eachof4thto10th/3rd=0.75) thoughasbroadas3rd, 11th fusiform, about
twiceaslongasbroad,and15timesaslongasandasbroadas10th,subacuminaleat
thetip.
PronotumconvexmediallyandsubtrapezoidaI,somewhatnarrowedposteriad,a
littlelongerthanbroad(length/width=1.12),distinctlylonger(pronotum/head=1.33)
andsomewhatbroader(pronotum/head=1.09)thanhead: lateralsidesnearlystraight
exceptnearanteriorandposteriorangles,anteriormargingentlyrounded,posterior
marginsubtruncate,anterioranglesobtuseandnotvisible fromabove,posteriorones
narrowlyrounded;surfacesparinglybutmuchlesscoarselypuncturedthaninheadex_
cept foranarrowsmoothmedianspacethroughthelengthofpronotum and some_

sidesnearlystraight,posteriormarginbroadlyemarginateat themiddle,posterioran-
glesrounded;surfacesomewhatdenselyandcoarselypunctured,andcoveredwith fine
brownishpubescence.Legsmoderatelylong,profemora,protibiaeandprotarsisimilar
instructuretothoseofothermembersofthesamespecies-group.
Abdomen elongate, nearly parallel-sided from 3rd to 7thsegments, and then
abruptlynarrowedtowardstheanalend;3rdto7thtergiteseachtransverselydepressed
alongthebase,somewhatclosely,coarselyandsuper・ficia11ypunctured,andcovered
withfinebrownishpubescence,8thand9thtergiteseachmuchmoresparinglyand
morefinelypuncturedthanintheprecedingtergites;8thsterniteslightlyandnarrowly
emarginateat themiddleofposteriormarginandlongitudinallydepressedalong the
medianlinebeforetheemargination,bothsidesof theemargination formingpromi-
nentpartswhichareasymmetrical,Ie量prominentpartbroaderthanrightprominent
partandstronglydepressedabove,surfaceof thedepressionmoredensely provided
withshortrigidblackishhairsthanintherightprominentpart;7thsterniteslightly
emarginateatthemiddleofposteriormarginandwithaU-shapeddepressioninfront
of theemargination,eachsideofthedepressionnotsoclosely providedwithshort

要 約
渡辺泰明・島田 孝:隠岐諸島島前の西ノ島から採集されたコバネナガハネカクシ類. _
筆者の一人, 島田が隠岐諸島島前の西ノ島で採集したコバネナガハネカクシ類を検討した結果,
それらは2種に分類された. そのうちの1種は, シンゴンコバネナガハネカクシ種群に含まれ
るが, 雄の腹部第二次性徴および交尾器の形状が既知種のものとは一致せず未記載種と判定さ
れた. また, 他の1種はクロチビコバネナガハネカクシ種詳に属し, 島後から記載されたオキ
クロチビコバネナガハネカクシに同定された. 未記 極をL. (s.str)dO,e,1en.seドゥゼンコバネ
ナガハネカクシと命名・記載するとともに, オキクロチビナガハネカクシを島前の西ノ島より
初めて記録した.
