He began his studies of drinking behavior in 1969 when examining the provision of primary health care and in 1976 joined a World Health Organization (WHO) collaborative study of alcohol-related problems in three countries (Mexico, Scotland, and Zambia). He has worked as a consultant on alcohol-related problems for WHO and for the British Commonwealth Health Secretariat in seven African countries and has contributed chapters on drinking in Africa to a number of books. He is currently collecting preliminary data for a study of drinking in relation to HIV infection in Zambia. Ronald C.Simpson, PhD Dr. Simpson is a consultant to ICAP. During the past 25 years he worked in senior management positions in the food and beverage industry. Prior to retirement Dr. Simpson was Vice President of Corporate Scientific Affairs at Joseph E.Seagram and Sons for 10 years. He was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to gain a better understanding of the role of alcohol consumption in health and social issues. Dr. Simpson recieved his doctorate in Nutrition at the University of California at Davis.
