. HOW SCHOOL LIBRARY BOOKS WILL BE PROVIDED . . . On or about March 1, all schools in Montana, public and private, will receive forms for requesting library books under Title II of the Elementary and Secon- dary EducationAct of 1965 (ESEA) The formwill resemble a catalog; it will list some 12,000 titles of books for grades K-12. Each district and each private school representative may choose books from the list provided, mark the form accordingly, and return it to State Superintendent Harriet Miller. The Department of Public Instruction will place all book orders through one nationally-recognized processing firm, selected in accordance with the compet- itive bidding requirements of the State of Montana. The processing firmwill send local school officials a confirmation notice, listing those books which will be supplied, and will obtain the books, prepare the catalog cards, place identification markings on the books, and ship them directly to the schools, completely processed and ready for use- The books will be the property of the State of Montana, on indefinite loan to public schools and on renewable annual loan to representatives of private school pupils. In each school the books will be available for use on the same basis as library books purchased from local funds. INFORMATIONFOR SCHOOL OFFICIALS AND LIBRARIANS . . .. In February a series of regional meetings will be held throughout the State to acquaint school officials and librarians with the ESEA Title II program. Spe- cific times and places of the meetings will be announced soon. TENTATIVE CALENDAR FOR ESEA TITLE II . . .
