Agricultural Development Division & Agriculture Marketing Business Development Bureau PO Box 200201 MT Helena, U.S.A. 59620-0201 406.444.2402 ii From the Governor Montana’s crops and commodities are treasured around the world. Our state ranks among the top ten producers in America in wheat, barley, flax, honey, wool, cattle and other agricultural staples. Montana entrepreneurs enhance our agricultural industry by creating high quality products available through grocery outlets, restaurants, to international markets and directly to consumers themselves. & The 2005-2006 Montana Food Beverage Directory showcases many of these products and manufacturers in order to increase their exposure to new markets. The producers and processors included in this directory vary in size, but each and every one are an important part of Montana’s agricultural industry and to our economy as a whole. I intend to do everything possible to expand Montana’s agricultural industry, and I hope this directory helps link Montana producers to markets not only in our nation but around the world. in IV From the Director Agriculture is Montana’s largest industry. More than 90 percent of the private land in the Big Sky state is devoted to agricultural production, and nearly 20 percent of the state’s workforce works in an agriculture-related field. Producers and entrepreneurs are adding value to Montana’s agricultural bounty by creating and marketing unique, high-quality foods and beverages from Montana’s raw commodities. & Publication of this biennial Montana Food Beverage Guide is part of a larger effort to assist Montana’s food and beverage producers with accessing new and expanded & markets. This Montana Food Beverage Directory is distributed at trade shows and to restaurants, food wholesalers and the public. Processed foods and food ingredients are an important part of adding value to Montana’s agriculture. I hope you find this guide useful, and will use it to buy and enjoy Montana food and beverage products. Sincerely, NANCY PETERSON K.
