These unique qualities earned to be recognized by appointments at prominent position in national universities as Dean, Faculty of Languages & Literature in the International Islamic University, Islamabad; and besides a remarkable expanded teaching, research and administrative experience at several top positions in University of Karachi, like Professor & Chairman, Department of Urdu, Director, Bureau of Composition, Compilation and Translation, Director, Evening Program, Director, Students’ Guidance, Counseling and Placement Bureau, served in international arena as Visiting Professor and Research Fellow at renowned world class universities, like ‘Tokyo University of Foreign Studies’ (Japan) , ‘Daito Bunka University’ (Japan); ‘Osaka University’(Japan); ‘Kyoto University’ (Japan); ‘Oriental University’ (Naples, Italy). Being a prominent and respected scholar and Professor with a highest academic achievements and a devoted administrator in academic and educational institutions, and associated with several universities, institutions and learned bodies, as well as with research journals, as a member or as an advisor, being enjoying a respect and celebrity in the academic arena. 3 Besides several official appreciations and recognitions, Conferred the highest civil Award “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” by the Emperor of Japan, in April 2013. 4 QUALIFICATION: D.Litt. (2003), Ph.D. (1975); and M.A. (1969) The area of interest in studies, teaching and research mostly relates with socio-cultural subjects and disciplines that correlate with the Muslims of South Asia right from medieval to modern age. Authored, edited and compiled over 75 books, in Urdu and in English languages, deals with the history, politics, culture and literature of the Muslims of South Asia, including several text books like: a. Two text books (published in four parts) for graduation level of studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, (Japan). b. A series of text books: “Chaman-e Urdu”, from primary to 8th class standard for Sheikh Shaukat Ali & Sons - printer and publisher at Karachi and Lahore. c. One school text book of the class IV for Sindh Text Book Board. d. Contributed in writing of chapters in text books of Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, for graduation and master level of study. e. ‘Me’yari Urdu Qaida’ - an Urdu primer, prepared jointly as a project of the National Language Authority, Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan. f. ‘Mera Urdu Qaida’ – A primer, prepared jointly as a project of Sheikh Shaukat Ali & Sons, printer and publisher, Karachi and Lahore. 2. Apart from these educational books, published a number of research papers, articles and chapters in prominent international research journals and magazines of world repute in Urdu and in English languages comprising of language, literature, education and socio- cultural topics related with south Asia. 3. Designing and supervising several research projects regarding language, literature and socio-cultural topics in the University of Karachi and other famous universities. 4. Initiated and edited 4 issues of a purely research journal of world class standard ‘Me’yar for the department of Urdu, International Islamic University, Islamabad that recognized by HEC. 5. Evaluating dissertations of Ph.D. and M.Phil for several national and international universities. 6. Holds and maintains a highly valuable collection i.e. a Personal Library, consists of books, periodicals, manuscripts and archival material on the areas of personal interest, the collection consists of nearly 35,000 items. A Part of this collection is shifted to Kyoto University Japan and preserved there as AQEEL COLLECTION in ‘Asia Africa Area Study Centre’ and used frequently by the Japanese and International scholars engaged in studies on Pakistan, and History, Politics and Culture of South Asian Muslims. 8 APPRECIATIONS: 1) Being studied as a subject for M.Phil. and M.A., dissertations in universities in home country and abroad, like: a) For M.
