This conference entitled “Modernizing Academic Teaching and Research in BusinessandEconomics”wasorganizedbytheLebaneseUniversityincollabora- tion with Oldenburg University in Germany and has been foreseen as a final networkevent withinthe MATRE (ModernizingAcademic Teaching& Research EnvironmentinBusiness&EconomicsatLebanonandSyria)project.Thisproject is funded by the European Commission under the TEMPUS IV–Sixth call for Proposals(ProjectNumber:544001-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPHES). The main objective of the Conference was to bring together researchers for a corporatediscussionaboutthecontemporaryissuesinresearch,academicteaching, andeducationinthecontextofglobalization.Anotherpurposeofthiseventwasto provide an international forum for the exchange of knowledge over the broad spectrumoffieldscoveringthefollowingtopics: 1. LeadershipandSustainabilityinHigherEducation 2. QualityandGovernanceofHigherEducation 3. InternationalizationofHigherEducation 4. LaborMarketandtheModernizationofBusinessEducation 5. ContemporaryTrendsandChallengesinBusinessSchools 6. ForgingResearchLinksBetweenBusinessandAcademia The abovementioned topics have resulted in twelve accepted and presented papers including one industrial paper.
