EXTRACTS OF THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE GRANT-IN-AID COMMITTEE HELD
ON 30 JULY 2013 TO CONSIDER THE PROPOSALS RECEIVED UNDER THE SCHEME OF
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO VOLUNTARY PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS FOR ORGANISING
BOOK PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2013-14.
The Director informed the Committee that an advertisement, for the year 2013-14
was issued in the News Papers throughout the country, inviting proposals from NGOs with
the recommendation of Members of Parliament & State/Central Govt. Authorities for Grant
in Aid on 28th February 2013 with the last date of submission of application being 31 March
2013 which was further extended to 5th April 2013. In response to the aforesaid
advertisement, the Trust received 798 proposals in total till 5th April 2013 and 75
more proposals were also received after the due date i.e. 5th April 2013.These
proposal were also considered on merit in view of the funds available. Out of these,
the GIA Committee in its first phase meetings held on 29 June 2013 and 6 July 2013
had considered 515 including some VIP cases and approved 100 cases for a total
grant of Rs.94.50 lac. During the 2nd phase, the Sub-Committee meetings held on 23
& 27 July, 2013 scrutinized the remaining 301 cases and recommended 38
proposals for the grant of Rs.56,75,000/-lac .
The recommendations of the Sub-Committee were considered by the Grant in
Aid Committee and same were approved. The total budgetary support from MHRD
for financial assistance under the scheme is Rs.1.75 lac.
The Committee approved and sanctioned Rs.151.25 lac against 138 cases,
(list of which is annexed) out of the sanctioned budget of Rs.1.75 crore under the
scheme. The GIA Committee, therefore, decided to further its action by approaching
the organizations directly involved in the Book Promotion activities so as to avail the
maximum benefit of the financial assistance scheme of the Trust.
