Grant Sullivan had been one of the government's most effective agents, and he's agreed to rescue Jane Hamilton Greer, a wealthy socialite possibly engaged in espionage. In the time they spent together, questions of guilt and innocence began to fade against the undeniable reality that two people from such differnet worlds should never have met.
ReviewIt was supposed to be one last "simple" job before retirement. All that burned-out, ex-secret agent Grant Sullivan had to do was extract flighty socialite Priscilla Jane Hamilton Greer from Manuel Turego's Costa Rican "plantation" and return her to her family in the United States. But simple quickly becomes complicated when Grant discovers Jane is not an empty-headed nitwit but instead is an opinionated woman with an escape plan of her own. Working together seems the best way to ensure a successful getaway from Turego and his thugs, but Grant didn't expect his new partner to be quite so distracting. Originally published in 1986, this tale contains all the ingredients of a classic Howard romance, including an actionpacked, Romancing the Stone-style plot, sizzling sensuality, a deliciously dark and dangerous hero, a wonderfully resourceful heroine, and plenty of humor. A magnet for readers familiar only with Howard's more recent work, readers who want to revisit this superb novel, and readers new to Howard, or even to the romance genre itself. --Booklist, 15th September 2009
